Hey Iggy (guys), Yeah, mate I'm not very happy about it...
That dude in the brand new BMW 530 pulled out from a side street, and stuck his nose in the 2nd lane, MY LANE!! It was a pretty hard hit, enough to rip his bumper off and smash it against my bonnet, p/s pillar next to the windscreen, take off the mirror, all while crumpling everything from the p/s headlights back to the strut tower. His nose (bumper, grill, lights, thermos, part of radiator) hooked it self just above the bumper and below the bonnet on the Datto just as I applied the brakes. He wasn't looking when he pulled out, so it's his fault as far as insurance goes. Although six eye witnesses (READ, DO GOODERS) claim I was speeding, but that should only mean I get a neg driving ticket or similar from the Cops, I can live with that. :) But I only just got the car engineered and Rego'd after a five year build-up 17 days ago, so I'm being quite restrained when I say, I'm a little upset about the damage. I reckon there could be $5-8K to my car, and I'm a little underqualified to estimate how much it'd cost too fix a $100K Beamer without a front end (lol). The Tow Truck driver said that even IF I was speeding it is still classified by insurance as his fault as he didn't negotiate the turn safely. Has anyone else had any similar experience with an accident that can calm my worries about mortgaging the Datto to pay for a BMW front end?
