Now some of us adventurous types have removed the towers in the past, usually to fit saver shims, mark the towers to identify where to return them, I also mark the bolts (like head bolts) and return them to their original holes too. The method of re-fitting them i've found works is to do the tower bolts up just tight i.e. zero torque and then oil the bearings and carefully fit the cam in. Make sure it turns by hand, tighten all of the tower bolts (there's no torque spec) so use the centre range for whatever number is stamped on them, 15lbs rings a bell but check to be sure.
