I
like the FJ too, but don't forget that they are a high K's unit from importers
these days. The last one I bought was in 1997/8ish and it had 86,000 k's on it
which is about the limit that I'd ever buy an imported engine. This one was a
beauty but 3-4 years on they must be nearly all over the 100k mark by now. The
rebuild costs for the FJ are quite exy in the scheme of things, just a head
gasket is a shock price.

thanx for that - im not really interested
in the SR - to pricey - and yes ill prolly do a ca one day but i want
some torque and think for reliabilty and gob loads of power the FJ is the
way to go all i need to know is which one to go with i know there are few to
choose from
thanx

Kits
FJ/CA/SR kits are available from SSS Automotive
and Maddat. The SSS FJ kit is fine for a manual body, mine
has been used/copied quite a few times and we've never had a problem. The
rear trannie mount is where there are subtle differences in the kits. If I
was doing a turbo conversion in 2002 instead if 1993, I'd be looking at
the SR or if I was on a budget the CA. The CA is the most under rated
turbo conversion and seen as a bit woosy for a 1600 but they are strong
& reliable.

Terry
What kits are available for fitting an FJ20
det into a 1600 and what experiences have people had with
them?
and for that matter should i want to stick
an FJ20det into my 1600 which engine is best to get - i know there
are couple different engines you can get from different
cars
but if i wanted to do some work on a
fj20det which is the best engine to get and what are the
differences
Thanx
