That's about the only one I havn't seen, but Nissan never put anything bigger than 44mm inlet and 35mm exhaust valves in production L6 engines because cracking between the seats is a problem (but bigger valves have been put into at least one local race engine - can't say anything more about that).  I know virtually nothing about L4 heads, but the 42mm and 44mm L6 inlet valves are readily available and I doubt your mates head would have anything different from either of those sizes.



You appear to have a good knowledge of Nissan 6 stuff (I don't so I shouldn't comment but I can't help myself). What's the L20A turbo head, A mate has bought one of these for his pretty R30 hatch to replace an expired L24E. We have it in bits at the moment and I couldn't help noticing the saucepan lids ti's got for inlet valves. Geez they'd be nice in a V912 (my L18) head with webers.

No, all L28's officially imported by Nissan to Oz used N42.  Some engine only imports used P90


im gunna take a guess for the E88 in aus, 280C?? coz they were on the L28s

You are thinking of the E30 head (240K, C210 Skyline).  The E31 head was fitted to 240Z's (only) imported to Oz until about mid-'71, it has big ports, small chamber but 'only' 42mm inlet and 33mm exhaust valves (larger valves are easily fitted).  Quite rare now and good ones are hard to find.

There's also an E88 head that is very similar, but has an even smaller combustion chamber, 42mm inlet and 35mm exhaust valves.  Telling you what it came from would be giving away a secret (hey, I want these for myself :-) ), but I'll give you a BIG hint - it wasn't fitted to any Z car......


I think the E31 is a stock L24 head not a 240Z head,
I would like a real 240z head with big valves and small kidney chamer with big ports not little ports.
