Paul, You've set some interesting criteria here but I'll give it a go. Let's start with what you have stock on a 200B i.e. 5Jx14 165SR14 or 175/75x14 or 6J14 185/70x14 (SX rims) all of which turn give or take a couple at 847 revs per mile. This number is important to keep your speedo accurate without a speedo drive change and we generally allow +-1% so you need a tyre on the back that does between 834 - 855 turns per mile (sorry about miles as I'm a SOB and most tyre data is still in imperial).
Let's now look at TRX rims - they are 5.5JJx15, so max legal tyre width is 205. The 205 tyre that's within the criteria for the speedo is 60 series as they do 843 turns per mile. Likewise a 195 tyre that's legal but at the lower end of the speedo range is 195/65 and they do 833 turns per mile which will make your speedo indicate low for actual speed by 1%. For the front 195/60x15 would be also OK as they would match the rear profile, and they do 861 turns per mile. This means that I'd recommend that you use 60 series both front and rear. I think that's done but I have to ask the question - why do you want different size tyres on the front to the rear? In my opinion it does nothing with regards to handling unless you've got serious suspension height differences or clearance problems. If you use a 65 series tyre on the front and a 60 series on the back you will build in more understeer and a 200B has enough built in the begin with. regards Terry -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Paul Stanley Sent: Sunday, 24 March 2002 12:40 PM To: OZDAT Mailing list Subject: TRX Wheels I bought some 15" TRX mags the other day for my 200B. I want to put 205 on the rear and 195 on the front, but I'm open to suggestions. I am not going to spare any expense on tyres, I'm after a quiet comfortable ride. I'm wondering what the highest profile I can go with the above widths on the live axle 200B with stock suspension, and what would be the correct profiles so the speedo would have a correct reading? I did ask this before and James recommended Yokohama A539.
