Doesn't sound real good? Jack up the body and have a closer inspection. I'm
not sure about the bit concerning the moustache bar? 2 bolts onto the diff
cover and 2 thru the bushings to locate the bar onto the body. The snapped
flange bolts suggest the diff may have broken a tooth off the pinion gear.

regards
terry

Subject: Things that go bang

Well i was driving along, gave it a bit of boost, and sure enough something
in the back end went bang. Car still drove so i limped it home, and it only
really made a noise when decelerating , which made me think it was a screwed
uni joint or something come loose. Took the wheel off and noticed two bolts
missing where the drive shaft meets the stub axle. So i replaced the bolts
and put another wheel on, tried to put it in reverse and now it wont move on
that side. I also noticed that where the moustache bar sits on the right
hand side the bar that slides through the bar has snapped its weld some how,
as i can do the bolt up onto it but then when i go to torque it up a bit it
just clicks n then doesnt grab. So have a done an axel by the sounds or am i
missing something ?
