"it appears the rear right hand side locating one has snapped a weld
or something."

Chris,
I hope that isn't too badly damaged as it is a bit of a pain to repair.
These things have a tendency to snap or weaken in rear end collision on a
1600. Things must have stopped turning in a rush on one side when whatever
broke.

Hope it's OK. I snapped an alternator mounting bolt today for only the
second time ever on a 1600 but I've heard it's common, makes a bad noise so
I new instantly something broke and it happens a K or so from home. It was a
right pain to get the broken bit out of the mounting which I had to remove
from the block to get at it - I only broke a drill bit this time, the
easiout actually worked (I usually hate those things).

cya
regards
Terry

Yeah im swappin the diff for an open one today. The moustache bar where it
actually bolts to the body, like the two bars that come out from the body
itself, it appears the rear right hand side locating one has snapped a weld
or something. I got it all back together and the wheels bind too much so id
say something inside the locked diff is cactus. Just hoping it wasnt a wheel
bearing noise at the same time coz ill put it all back together and have to
take it all off again haha.
regards chris
