Nissan NZ say all L engines are for unleaded,, and thats what sort of petrol they have in Japan..

But lead is a good upper end lube(even if its not needed) it should last longer.
Avgas has high oct level and the biggest amount of lead per litre.
They might ban leaded petrol for cars but they carnt take the lead out of  Plane engines.

Yeah I tried half a tank of unleaded the other day and noticed a bit
of a rattle under load, maybe ill stick to leaded. The motor is
standard and seems to be in perfect condition, carbies aside, so I
dont really want to trash it. When you get valve seat recession and
the motor dies, does it normally do it gracefully or do valves start
hitting pistons etc?

I seem to recall this being asked before, but I couldnt find anything
in the archives, is it ok to run an L26 on unleaded?
