G'day all,

Well I put my 240Z on the road last week. Yay. And rather unsurprisingly
the engine is blowing smoke like the proverbial. I am told that it could
be the valve stem guides or the rings among other things.
I can only see it (doesn't mean its not there i guess just that its not
tooo bad) when:
-Accellerating hard
-Cold

But i'm guessing its the rings yes? OK so i need to do something. I've
debating between the following:

Option 1:
rebuild the L24 myself. In which case:
-what parts will i need to do this myself and what should i get a pro to
do?
-how much should i expect to pay for a ring compressor?
-how much time should i allow given i haven't taken the bottom end of an
L apart before (changed head gasket before).
-how much is it worth to get someone to fully rebuild it as opposed to
doing it myself?

Option 2:
buy an L28E(T) and plonk it in there. In which case:
-does anyone know of an L28ET for sale and how much should i be
expecting to pay
-i don't believe i will require an engineers certificate coz its the
same series engine. Correct?

At this stage i'm leaning towards the L28 budget depending. I don't want
to spend a whole heap of money coz i'm trying to get my SR20DET into my 1600.
Any comments/suggestions?
Thanks,

Dave
