If you are serious about improving the handling, put the investment into
replacing all those worn bushes, shockers and ball joints. The full set of
ball joints would be AROUND $300 at a guess ($150 for the 2 strut ball
joints). The front suspension bushes set can be bought in nolethane from
Repco for about another $100.
The idler arm can be rebushed in nolethane for about $20.
The 4 rear trailing arm bushes shouldnt cost more than around $50.

Front shockers can be as much as you want to spend. Koni Reds all round are
probably the best for the price for a bit of weekend competition use. I
would leave the springs until you have all the rest installed, including new
anti sway bar bushes.

Then get more negative camber on the front end. Try 1.5 degees. You will
need to get a Kmac camber adjuster kit for the strut tops, or extend the
radius arms. Check how to do this legally with scrutineers. This will
combat the understeer. You will have a much better handling car by then.
You will be surprised how your times will drop as you feel much more
confident to throw the car into every corner.

Next would be a slight lowering, down maybe 30mm at the front and a max of
25mm at the rear. Plus a set of 6 inch rims (if not already fitted) with
sticky tyres. Yoko A009's aren't too bad for their price. This will
probably be good for another couple of seconds.

After that, a 4.6 R180LSD (another couple of seconds), more power and bigger
brakes, would you believe only another couple of seconds. and etc. etc. etc
(less seconds)
