Yeah that's it, not worth anythin really, just got to find one. No doubt some one will correct me if I'm wrong, but the purpose is to increase voltage or current to the coil under 'start' conditions to help fire the engine. You could probably just jump the ballast resistor and find that you'd cure the problem.
