by the way u guys descibing how the turbo should work, it's obvious that u guy have a very general knowledge about turbo, let me tell u guys that, for the turbo to work to it's max efficiency, it's needs to be spooling or making boost by 1/3 of it's redline, eg. redline 7,500 rpm, then boost should be making at around 2,500 rpm. so i assume you tap the wastegate actuator of right at the compressor, that's why boost come in at 4,000. now the GTIR making boost at 2500rpm is because the wastegate actuator are control by the car management system, so for you to achieve the same boost response, you needs to tap the wastegate actuator of the intercooler piping at around near the throttle body, if you desire extra punch at boost kicking in, then try to extend the hose to about 2-2.5 metres long and you should have some fun. any too much info at the moment, i'll let you guys know some more details as i read your mail.

is the front AR .68 or rear,

0.68AR I believe.

It is running 12psi at present.

Comes on slowly then hits 4,000 rpm and bang - then it goes!

Mark, what;s the A/R's on your T28 off,
if it hasn't redone (stocko), run max 14psi, very safe and works well at this boost.

Hi there list,

wondering if antone could shed some light on this problem?

T28 turbo off a GtiR fitted to a CA18 det.
It comes on boost at approx 4,000 - 4,200 RPM is this normal?

Some say it is too high - if so why?

I quite like it this way beacuse it means you can drive in the city without hitting boost all the time!

Any suggestions appreciated

Mark O'Connor
