A good mate of mine imports parts from Japan. He is also a Datsun nut and 10 years ago had a lethal 1600 he imported with an amazing rear xmember conversion and spaceframe setup.
ANYWAY He has told me some absolute horror stories with importers. He reckons the way to go is to not to go to wreckers that import, but rather whole car importers. They have more control over what goes in the containers in Japan and are more interested in customer service. API have been around for what seems ages, they've closed the direct outlet in Canberra but you can still get stuff through Sydney and they honour warranty work through local businesses.
