The calipers have different bolt spacings so won`t bolt up. The reason people put 200B brakes in is they have a larger disc and better caliper or can fit a twin spot caliper thus improving braking performance.

If the struts are standard 1600, there should be no need to undo the brake line. Just take the caliper off and hang it up with a piece of wire (I don't do this but I can see problems if I don't say it). I have always undone the two steering arm\strut bolts and just levered the control arm down. If it doesn't want to move, put a shifter on the steering arm and twist it to break the connection and then lever it. You can then undo the three strut top, nuts making sure you hold the strut so it doesn't drop on te floor! Assembly is the reverse and you can use the shifter again to align the two. Take note of which of the strut bolts goes where as they are different lengths, at least they were when they were built. At this point I place a jack under the control arm and then undo the top 3 bolts. Lower the jack that's under the lower control arm and out she pops. Swap the 1600 springs and top insulator over on the 200B struts, using spring compressor etc. If you have Girlock brakes on the 200B struts then you re-install them left for right so the callipers are forward of the stub axle, if you have Sumitomo brakes then there's no need to swap the struts. Installation is pretty much the reverse of removed, however instead of placing the 2nd jack under the control arm, I find it much easier to locate the strut in the balljoint housing by jacking up the suspension unit under the brake hub to compress the unit slightly, then it will easily locate. To finish off reconnect your hydraulic lines, bleed the brakes etc and you're done. regards Terry (dog tired tonight, hope I didn't miss anything important) -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of daniel grae Sent: Sunday, 23 February 2003 10:42 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: 200b struts whats involved in changing the front struts in a datsun 1600 to 200b struts _________________________________________________________________ MSN Instant Messenger now available on Australian mobile phones.
