Rust repairs

Any tips on the best way to go around repairing rust around the lip of the boot (under the seal) on a 1600.?  No easy rust repair panels out there yet?  I am going to have my first go at repairing rust myself.  I have done it before when I was younger, but I was a whole lot lazier then too.
