All I can add to this is that Nissan must have shipped different cars to NZ
than OZ cause the 610 was quite different here. We got twin Hitachi 9.5:1
engines in the 610SSS up until mid 75 - but we didn't got the 710SSS (not
even the L16 J series) at all as it was reported as being too quick (or so
they say) with even the L20B engine without major suspension mods for Aussie
conditions. Somehow the 610 was sold in Aus long after it was dead in Japan,
funny thing was the Japanese version of the 810 (200B) was developed in Aus,
and then for Aus after a few months of its release here Nissan Aus were
forced to put a crappy BW axle in it for us as Nifty Neville Wran said they
have to so the BW factory in Albury had something to do with their time - go
figure. Anyway that's all ancient history.

regards
Terry

Yes but a 74 engine is not a real "SSS" engine
It ant got a factory flat tops. its not 9.5.1

after 73 they were stock engines with twin carbs and a dizzy.

I have wrecked out probley 100+ datsuns with L engines
The only L18 to come with a W block is the 810 SSS from Japan.
8.5.1 comp ratio.
