Did you tighten the nipple up before he took his foot off the pedal?

Hey,
I bought some pads yesterday for my new r31 rear disks.
stuck em in this morning, when i tried to bleed them the brake pedal would
give 1 firm press then go fairly soft.
I wasnt able to get any fluid to expell from the bleeder (yes i had a helper
pressing the brake pedal)
this is weird i never expected this problem
any ideas ?
