Geordie, Actually I had a Dick Smith Cat 64 (apple clone ) and acoustically coupled modem in 1984.    I used to use the internet (through adelaide university) to submit my assignments for an external studies course I was doing.   The highlight of the net in those days was being able to read the worldwide news on reuters and log on to Kennedy space centre to relay information.   We have come a long way I guess!.   P.S.
