I can remember first accessing the ‘internet’ at Uni in 1990 and all I could find were floor plans to a Czechoslovakian Hospital.  This was due to an American University that our Uni had direct linked to allocating a server full of useless garbage to the link as we hadn’t paid the bill.

Played a great network game called “snipes” though – very basic graphics but you could have 30 players in a room.

Then there is the time I first hooked up our home modem in 1995 and jumped on the all new Net.  My missus (a hairdresser) wanted to look up cosmetics for a friend’s daughter for her school formal and typed ‘Teen Facial’ into the search engine.  I don’t need to explain the results, piss funny though

Who is heading to Benarkin for the QRC today?  Wayne Johnston’s 1600 is seeded 6th ahead of Evo’s and WRX’s.

Cheers

Brad

Geordie,

Actually I had a Dick Smith Cat 64 (apple clone ) and acoustically coupled modem in 1984.

I used to use the internet (through adelaide university) to submit my assignments for an external studies course I was doing.

The highlight of the net in those days was being able to read the worldwide news on reuters and log on to Kennedy space centre to relay information.

We have come a long way I guess!.

P.S. The Cat had great graphics capacity!.

Cheers

Errol is a hoarder of the worst kind. Hahahahaha. I have stupid things like that around my place, that I just can't part with just in case I need it one day.

Errol, in 1982 you could've bought a Commodore 64 (or XT 8086 IBM) with $599 - What would be it's value now?

Just give him the bloody cam that he needs for $50 and you mind will be at ease when your in that coffin thinking about it. :)

Mark,

I cant sell it!

I bought this for my rally galant in the 1980's and it cost me $550 from coltspeed, due to the falling yen vs $AUD.

I am emotionally attached to it due to the cost. It will probaly be used to fly a datsun flag from on my coffin :-(

Cheers
