It's pretty easy to check if it's a clutch problem - start in neutral, depress clutch, count to 5 seconds, attempt to select reverse. If it grates, then it's the clutch operation (i.e. not disengaging for whatever reason), if it just wont go into reverse, then it's more than likely Errol is on the money with a bent pin in the selector mechanism.
