Yea, forgot about the AC. The compressor is the same and in the same
place as the 84, so I assume the lines will just plug right into the
back of the 116 engined compressor. Did know the trannies were
different as well.

There could be a few problems, but they are BOTH OM617.95 engines - the
116 engine is a 617.950 while the 300SD had a 617.951 engine. The
transmissions ARE different so all the the vacuum and accelerator
linkage from the newer car would have to be used with the newer
transmission as both vacuum AND cables are needed on the later 722.3
series transmission vs the 116 series 722.1 series transmission. I THINK
that whatever vacuum pump is there can remain there. I don't know if a
piston pump can replace a diaphragm pump. I think that the turbo from a
617.950 will hook right up to the exhaust of the W126 (but I've never
tried it). The earliest 617.95xs ('79 or earlier) developed 110 hp and
went to 120 in 1980 and finally 123 hp in 1984). Hooking up AC MIGHT be
a problem (especially if the 116 used a York compressor on the right
side of the engine rather than a GM rotary on the left side - I'm just
not sure what that looks like - ask someone with a 116 SD or better yet
someone with both W116 AND W126 300SDs).
