Decent car. Parts expensive, in some cases 4x older, RWD Volvos. Volvo parts prices have gone very far, far north since Ford takeover.
If automatic and transmission has not yet been changed, you will have to do it: $3500+ at dealer. Pre-86 autos are weak. Sticks are fine. A w124 is a better car and will probably cost less to maintain. Were it me, I would look around for a nice, clean 740 or 940 series from a non-rustbelt area. Reason is not body rust, but long-term effects of moisture/salt corrosion on electrics (not big stuff, gremlins). Not all cars seem to get hit, I had one that did and ooooooh what a PITA.
