Part of reliability is fixing everything as it fails. If you'd fixed a failed 
ball socket when it failed the first time you wouldn't have this consideration.
It also means looking over things on a regular basis. As a car ages you need 
greater vigilance.

You could switch over and drive a Hyundai but somebody used to Mercedes and 
Porsche isn't going to be happy with anything short of the Genesis and maybe 
not even then.

Go try a Passat, I had one as a rental last week and it drove real well 
although I wasn't really happy with the DSG but I suspect most people won't 
care.

Wow!  That sounds interesting.   We have auctions here on Tues & Thurs - 
I think I'll try to watch what happens this evening....

We started having another problem recently - one of the ball & socket 
assys for the accelerator linkage has fallen off twice during the past 
week - once when my wife was driving and once when I was - I was able to 
find it and snap it back on but it's just one more thing that calls into 
question its reliability.  I'll order  new Ball & docket today so 
hopefully that  will fix it....   I have 238K on it so I wonder what 
will happen next?
