For me, it is not just about lasting a long time, it is about performance too. I live in Kansas and I have to drive out to western Kansas sometimes for work. Have you ever driven in Western Kansas? It is like a nuclear war has happened. There are stretches where the road is flat all the way to the horizon and there aren't even trees. Seriously, sometimes you can see a farm house way in the distance. Total desolation. I want good tires for that area because I drive REALLY REALLY FAST through there and I want good tires because if I somehow blew out two tires, I would probably starve waiting for another sign of civilization.
