I used to have DSL with a local ISP called dslnorthwest. Their service was excellent, but they used the local telco, US West (now Qwest)which was not so good. This was a while back, so user friendliness was not as good as now. I had to muck around the modem to get things working, but the phone lines never were good enough for good bandwidth.
Finally I caved and went to Comcast. Except for the few truly awful experiences having to go to their store, and the terrible outdated and totally incorrect FAQs on their website, my experience with them has been good. Once I had reception problems and a tech came out and determined that a critter had chewed on an outside cable. He repaired it...no charge. After a while I got tired of paying the rent on the modem, so I bought a better one (DOCSIS 3) from Amazon and saved the money back in less than a year. Comcast provided good telephone support to get that up and running. Throughput and reliability have been much better with cable. We have Century Link DSL available here but I've only used Time Warner for the last 10 years. Time Warner recently "upgraded" and I saw 30+ MBps (with the specified new modem) right after the upgrade but now it's back to 15-18 MBps. I routinely had 15-16 MBps before the "upgrade" so it's no improvement as far as I can see. Century Link claims "up to 10 MBps but I don't know what to expect with them. Anyone with experience both ways? _______________________________________ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com _______________________________________ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
