Randy, Not to mention that short drives that don't fully warm up the engine and transmission oils are a sure path to rapid wear and death of the vehicle. The late Dr. MB opined that once the coolant temperature is normal operating temperature, another fifteen minutes of driving were required to get the oils fully warmed up to drive out the moisture.
My daily commute is about 15 miles, about 25-30 minutes. In my opinion this is just barely long enough to warm up the oils. If my commute were shorter, I'd be switching to a gasser that warms up quickly. ------------- Max Charleston SC On Fri, Nov 20, 2015 at 2:02 PM, Curt Raymond via Mercedes < mercedes@okiebenz.com> wrote: > Some of us don't want to live in the city <snip> > From: Randy Bennell <rbenn...@bennell.ca> > To: Curt Raymond <curtlud...@yahoo.com>; Mercedes Discussion List < > mercedes@okiebenz.com> > Sent: Friday, November 20, 2015 12:06 PM > Subject: Re: [MBZ] wow> > The real question is why anyone would do a commute of even 20 miles for > any length of time. > > _______________________________________ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
