You will usually be OK as long as trans did not start slipping real bad and
you tried to keep driving. 

Also it is better to repair trans cooler lines using compression fittings
from local hardware store. Additionally you can use flare fittings too.

I have found that with the rubber hose clamp method people make a couple of
mistakes. First they use fuel line, which is not designed for high pressure
and may not be ATF safe. You need to use high pressure hose designed for
ATF. The second problem is that the metal line is smooth and easy for rubber
to slide off, especially when metal contracts when it is cold outside.
Therefore I will often use two clamps on each side. However it is best if
you can use a flare type tool to create a ridge or barbs. 

Using two clamps and the correct type of hose, I have done several trans
cooler line repairs and never have had a problem. I have tried regular fuel
line and always end up with leaks.
