The biggest reason that the 2.2 liter 601 engine starts faster, gets
MUCH better fuel economy and develops more power with less displacement
is that it's almost 20 years more modern.
The important thing here is that I think the battery cables haven't been
changed in 20+ years and should at the very least be swapped out. I'm SURE
they've gained in resistance. How much I dunno but I bet they've gained
something and when its really cold (like -20F) and every amp counts I want it
to be able to get there.
All of my battery cables are original and the voltage drop across them
(relate to resistance) is essentially what it was when the cars were new.
