True that.  Student loans are not discharged by bankruptcy.  Also, speaking 
from firsthand experience (idiot grandson#2) these loans are handed out with no 
regard for scholastic ability or likelihood of repayment.  The interest rates 
are obscene (3.76-6.31%) for today's environment.  And these loans are 
guaranteed by the government (that's us) so the lenders can't lose, just like 
the home loans underwritten by Fannie May and Freddie Mac or bundled and sold.  
Is this a big and growing problem?  Just look at the data:

I haven't been a student in a civilian university since the 80s so I don't 
really know what goes on there.  But it's easy to conclude from many, many 
reports that the liberal arts colleges have become the cesspool of higher 
education.
