Probably its been covered but not recently.

In MA right now diesel is about $0.15 more expensive than premium gas, maybe
as much as $0.25 in some places. So say $0.45 more than regular gas. The tax on
diesel is like $0.40 more than gas so that'd put us pretty much back on the
level right there. I'd suggest raising the gas tax (fat chance) rather than
reducing the diesel tax but I'm a conservationist at heart.
We're at the tail end of heating season now and it was my experience (before
last year, last year changed the rules) that by about the end of May diesel
would be cheaper than gas and by about July it'd be considerably cheaper. It
was the year before last where all summer diesel was something like $0.70
cheaper than gas. I was elated, we drove the 240D everywhere and my pickup sat
parked.

So this year? I have no freakin clue. I'm given to understand you can convert
diesel into gasoline somewhat and thats what the refineries are doing to ease
the price of gas which will inevitably raise the price of diesel. Crude oil
futures are hard for me to understand. I guess they're still quite high,
December 07 delivery is $67.89 which is way up from a year or two ago....

At any rate I wouldn't hold my breath for a big decline if fuel prices...

I'm sure this has been covered before, so bear with me, but does anyone
think that diesel will go back to being cheaper than gas? Or are we
doomed
to pay more from now on? Has there been some special tax applied to
diesel?
Why is it so much more now?

More importantly why would it get bent at all?
Still if you answer one question you've undoubtably answered both... Anything
that can get bent over time could get bent suddenly.
In this case we don't know if it got bent suddenly, I've only had the car
about 3 months and its ALWAYS leaked air right there.

What I don't get is Home Heating Oil prices... At the last fillup I paid
more for HHO than the price for diesel at the pump! And that's for road
taxed diesel! Off-road diesel would be WAY cheaper, like probably close to
$2 a gallon intsead of about $2.70 a gallon I paid.

If it weren't a bit of a hassle and this being the first time I've had to
think of it, I'd be more looking at taking a couple 55 gallon drums and
going to get some farm diesel!

Anyone have any idea why HHO is getting to be more expensive than diesel?
(since as far as I'm aware, HHO is either the same, or LESS refined than
diesel...)
