Try cleaning the temp sensor terminals at the sensors. Corrosion there can give a bad gauge reading as well as false signal to activate the fan clutch. I'm not sure which is which right now but they are both actuated by temps. I have the paper 201 electrical manual but no time right now. You could jump it with a power and ground wire while the connector is unplugged to make sure the electro-magnet pulls the clutch in. If I get back from my meeting early enough, I will try to look it all up and give you the locations of components and temps that they kick in.
