Im really starting to take to the little 201's. This one drives pretty well, tranny doesnt appear yet to be to screwed from the coolant in it. So lets just pray for the best. Im really wanting to get a 5 speed version as well as a 2.5 turbo version soon. As a side note, the tranny in the 85 300D has not started slipped, especially when going from 2nd to 3rd. Also seem to not catch gear sometimes when downshifting at certain situations. If yo ugo ahead a floor it and force it down to the next gear it kicks down and goes. This is just great.

It looked like the sway bar bushings needed to be replaced, the tie rids
etc looked good. Not sure about the back links though. Tire pressure
is good. The fan Im talking about is the one mounted to the waterpump,
with the electric clutch. I think the temp got to 110 just sitting
there and it never came on.

Try cleaning the temp sensor terminals at the sensors. Corrosion there can give a bad gauge reading as well as false signal to activate the fan clutch. I'm not sure which is which right now but they are both actuated by temps. I have the paper 201 electrical manual but no time right now. You could jump it with a power and ground wire while the connector is unplugged to make sure the electro-magnet pulls the clutch in. If I get back from my meeting early enough, I will try to look it all up and give you the locations of components and temps that they kick in.
