Man!! I hate it when they use either air guns or the mechanic called Mr
Universe to tighten the wheel bolts!! There's a *reason* there are torque
specs for the various fasteners on our cars! Sheesh! Fortunately I was in
my garage and not along the side of some muddy highway at night!!
Next - should I use Anti-Seize on the lug bolts before I tighten and
"torque" them? There seems to be some metal to metal corrosion on them.
But I seem to recall some controversary about this --
Now, I can rest as the ATF drains from the AT (that's one hellofa AT
dipstick locking mechanism!!) --- Next I need to drain the coolant and
change the T'Stat & fan shroud. Fun, Fun, Fun. Maybe I'll start that in a
little while.
Taking those 2 sound panels off was a PITA though!
I wish my serpentine belt had arrived before I started all this - but I
guess I can keep it partially disassembled until it gets here. From the
sounds of things I'm better off replacing the belt while the shroud and fan
are disconnected.
Later -
Sincerely,
