Before the days of tinted glass and Nafta, everyone driving a truck, even a pickup in the central part of the continent waved at least a bit. Sometimes just raising the first finger off the wheel. (#1) With clear glass, I can see the other driver's eyes, and get a better read on their intentions at intersections and driveways. With tinted glass, all we can do is hope they don't pull or turn in front of us, or hope they WILL stop at the light or stop sign

I wave at MB in most cases. One observation I have made is that people in new MB are oblivious, living in a world that revolves around them. 126 owners tend to be oblivious too. I get about 50% response there, and the responders are all male. I can't remember getting a wave form a female driving a 126. Guess there is some great social implication there, but I don't know what it is.

I travel. The thought occurred to me: The other types of vehicles that I
have been into in my life have been sort of specialized, and as such, when
you happen upon another one, you give a nod or a quick friendly gesture (as
in the Mopar "thumbs-up", or the Harley (or really any motorbike) nod or
wave).

As our Mercedes' flew past eachother, I felt the urge to give some sort of
signal, so I just nodded slightly. Eh, maybe Merz isn't rare enough to do
that. Maybe I should reserve it for 123s.

I know that when I pass another classic 900 Saab when driving mine, I
sometimes get an acknowledgement.

I think I just may be an entirely too friendly person.

Come to think of it, I know that bus drivers wave at eachother. What about
semi-truck drivers? Probably too many of them on the road to do that.
