Why take a risk, simply call a flatbed rollback tow company and have it picked up and delivered to your home. Compared to risking a possible wreck because of sudden loss of braking, cost v risk would be small, IMHO.. Since the mechanic probed a hole in the line, and you did not ask for it, perhaps he would pay the tow.
