The engine should stop in 5-15 seconds- UNLESS there's a leak and pressure in the sump and valve cover area can escape. That pressurizes the shutoff diaphragm on the other side from where vacuum is applied to shut it off. That shuts off the engine.

The pressure buildup puts pressure on the fuel shutoff valve on the injection pump via the oiling system to/from the injection pump.
