Well, I may have a dead KLIMA to add to your pile.

Donations are cheerfully accepted.  We need to build a knowledge
base of what _really_ goes wrong with them.  (We have that for
climate controls, ACC panels, and clocks.  Solder, solder, and
capacitors respectively.  Every other failure seems to be down
in the noise.)

what looks like a burnt resister and at least two broken traces.

That's different.  The Klima should be pretty immune to that
sort of thing, but not if external wiring faults blow it out.
It has a couple of reverse-polarity protection diodes in it,
a bad jumper cable scenario could take it out in a hurry.
