A bystander is often the worst person to be in a situation like that. I have often thought that, some of these street dealers being such incredibly bad shots, the safest thing to do if they are shooting at you would be to stand absolutely still, as the one thing they never seem to hit is what they are aiming at.
Of course, I don't take my own advice. I have not lived in such wild & woolly neighborhoods for years, but when I did and I heard gunshots I dove for cover muy pronto. Lee
