Nor was the rear fender on my Sportster, but that didn't stop me from attaching a plastic crate and taking my 95 lb. Dobie with me wherever I went, including on I-95. I know, stupid, but somebody was looking out for us - we enjoyed many hundreds of miles that way. I didn't have a four-wheeled vehicle I could use at the time, and I was on fire for doing the dog obedience show circuit.
