I'm going to call your bluff on this. Coast to coast by train in 24 hours?
That an average of over 100 mph assuming no stops. Where did this factoid
come from?

About 10 years ago, the wife and I took Amtrak from Houston to Los

would have cost half as much, but the train trip was so much more fun. I
definitely recommend it if you just want to relax.

Never had a sleeper car. Would have been great from WI to NM, but was
$800/person, if I remember correctly.

In the 40's you could go coast to coast via train in 24 hours. A lot of
"progress" huh?

last time i went anywhere was like 20 years ago, from san jose, ca to
seattle. i kind of enjoyed it . they had some kind of very cheap
promo deal on that train from los angeles, so we played lots of
different card and tile games with people from the hood we would never
meet otherwise. i didn't like sleeping in the seat though. i think
if i had some kind of sleeper car, the trip would have been just
grand.

Irrational I know but there you are.
