Not a chance. Florida roads only went North and South then, especially rails. To ride from Ft. Lauderdale to Ocala means a trip to Tampa first, so there must be some routes that do cross state now. I quit using Amtrak, as much as I liked it, because to visit family meant middle of the night trips to the train. Only Ocala arrival now is @ 3AM, departure about 4:30 AM. 40 years ago there were arrivals from S. Florida 3 - 4 times a day, during the work day [I used to pick kids up there for camp]. I enjoy train travel, but the schedules just didn't work for me.

I'm going to call your bluff on this. Coast to coast by train in 24 hours? That an average of over 100 mph assuming no stops. Where did this factoid
