Can't remember how long ago, maybe two years or so, King George reduced
the maintenance budget on Amtrak or child support to the this railroad....
Delays and poor arrival, departure times and poor
services are expected, but I am waiting for a serious train accident and
then a congressional report, fault will be finger pointed to Bj(*-HYI
and nothing will be footed noted about reduction in child support .........

Arrive at the airport at least 2 hours before the flight.
Theres no point in arriving more than 15 minutes before the train...

I can plug in my laptop on the train, nevermind the fact that the seating area
is big enough that I can ACTUALLY USE my laptop.
I can get up and get a snack in the cafe car, sure the prices are high but
theres no problem bringing your own food...
Both Boston's South Station and NYC's Penn Station have good places to eat
right in the train station. Logan has a couple good places, JFK and Laguardia
don't or at least not that I've found.
They cost almost exactly the same depending on what time of day you go. I see
no reason to EVER fly to NYC...
For my honeymoon we took the train from Albany to Niagra Falls. It took about 8 hours which is only a little more than it'd take you to drive. I don't remember exactly but I don't think it was all that expensive, around the same as flying I'd think. Again it was MUCH more comfortable...
Of course on that run flying is MUCH faster but that was October 1, 2001 and nothing was going to make my wife get on an airplane. Irrational I know but there you are.

I love taking the train, but Amtrak is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO bad in the
midwest it is practically unbearable. 50 hours from Madison, WI to Deming,
NM. They have some good lines on th East coast, where I assume you are
(Manhattan), but elsewhere it is awful. If I had to go from Kansas City
to South Carolina - I have to change trains in CHICAGO!! In almost every
case, flying is cheaper than the train, sadly.
