Ebay is supposed to be an open outcry auction, but with a senseless time limit. Because of the time limit, the customers have converted it to a sealed bid auction. They do this by placing bids too late for others to see and react to them before time is up. Those who don't like the way the game is run cry foul (or "sniping"). The obvious solution is a "going, going, gone" format.
