They got bought out by AOL, and everyone involved made a ton of money? :-)
Seriously, only Scott can answer this, but there are worse fates than
opening up a new market so spectacularly that the largest software
company in the world is forced to give away their product in order to
compete with you.
Also, there is already a team of people working on an open source (free)
version of the various card environments, although they don't have the
backing of Microsoft.
