I have cut a bit of Ti and there are a couple recomendations I can give you.  For bigger cuts, a TiCN M42 cobalt rougher works surprisingly well.  Like Hanita or Niagra.  For under 1/2" dia, I like three flute, carbide with a TAiLN coating, like Data Flute similar.  They make a 1/2" dia, 3 flute, with 5/8 LOC and a .015 corner radius that cuts like you wouldn't believe.  I don't remember SFM, but I think its in the 200's.  IPT is around .002 so it works pretty well.  I will run it a 1/4" deep, 1/2 to full radial depth and the cutter seems to go forever.  I have found that RobbJack ball mills do NOT work so well because they have the helical gash on the end which tends to weaken the point and it fails.  I used ULTRA-TOOL 3 flute 3/8" dia ball mills for rough surfacing some Ti and they seem to work great.  Hope this helps, and good luck on your run.

Subject: [mfg-smartcam] Repeat quesions......

Greetings Group......This is my 3rd attempt to post this so other post may trickle in on same topic.  A few questions addressed in the past but dont recall the answers and hopefully someone will rememeber..

Im a FreeForm and PTurn user and have purchased FeatureCam but havent had achance to do anythiing with it...anyway

1) How to make printed graphic view from FreeForm have heavier lines?

2) How to take a screenshot of showcut and cut/paste to Word?

3)  I at times have trouble snapping to an element when in Order Path, Prof Start...... I have to snap up down all around the element repeatedly before it finally grabs it......any ides?

Now I'd like to ask for some helpful hints and ideas for Milling TITANUM.......  I have a very detailed grid to machine from 10" x 10" x 3/4" TI 6AL 4V
Specifically .082 wide x .300 deep end milled slots,  multiple arbitrary shaped pockets .600 deep with .062 and .125 corner rads,  Drilled, tapped and reamed holes.

Recommended Tooling....Carbide brand etc....    Speed,  Feed, depth of cut when milling, drilling reaming etc...

I know this is a tall order but any of you guys in Aerospace or other specialties may know what i mean.

Thanks for any help,  Regards Fairway
