Jon,
One more thought about where to cancel cycles: I
use the @TLCHG section to output a G80, cancel the active workplane, retract to
a clearance location, change tools, re-establish the workplane and resume
cutting.
In some code generators, I have a reserved
workplane (G59) set up to hold the clearance location. The operator can enter
the offsets in machine coords for the clearance location. Usually, he sets it so
that the part is brought to the front, right in the middle of the door. That way
he can change parts or inspect without doing anything himself. Then he just
pushes one button to resume.
Just before changing tools, make the G59
workplane active and drive to X0, Y0, Z0. The operators offsets will take you to
the right place.
