Colin, Using G92, as Fred suggested is the easiest way but if you can't use this method, would it be possible for you to use tool offsets to remedy your situation. If you use the same tools on more than one part just use a different tool offset value for each different part. Set the value in the offsets to compensate for the differences in lengths of the parts. This way on any one part when you command the tool to zero is will go to the correct point. This might get a little tricky (hey! it's Halloween), but it should solve you problem.
