Another thing which occurred to me as I hit send, is that you may simply be dealing with people who, like me, by default reply to someone directly and the list at the same time with the 'group reply' option. I've always preferred to get email that way, myself, it's not uncommon - so your dupes may simply be from that, and not the list.
