If you looked at full headers, you'd see the difference.  One is going:

mike -> you

The other is going

mike -> mhvlug.org -> you

Per my other email, check out your preferences in the new mailman
system.  You can customize all of this behavior.  I know at least a few
people have dived into it, as I see that digest email is being sent out
to some of our users.  

You'll specifically be interested in the following options:

Receive your own posts to the list?

Ordinarily, you will get a copy of every message you post to the
list. If you don't want to receive this copy, set this option to No. 

and

Avoid duplicate copies of messages?

When you are listed explicitly in the To: or Cc: headers of a list
message, you can opt to not receive another copy from the mailing
list. Select Yes to avoid receiving copies from the mailing list; select
No to receive copies.
