I had 10.1 but had to reinstall Mandriva 2007 when I went to a 64
processor. I use it
at work and at home. For me it's a tough system that does what I want,
and the only
reason I boot to windows is at work to run Crosstalk to download from
the mini.
I use the 32 bit Mandriva on the 64 hardware because the 64 version does
not seem
ready for prime time ( I downloaded and installed both).
I tried the latest Ubuntu, but although I like many Debian features, I
found Mandriva
far superior for me and really did not like it at all. You can buy 2008
on a pen drive to try
but I bought it online from them as a download and have been using it
trouble free
since then. They do have a free download, but I prefer to buy the
powerpack and
support the system.
Furthermore, I keep reading how Linux is not quite ready for the
desktop, but please
tell me what it can't do. There sure isn't much I'm missing or cannot do
with it except
run an old windows program (Crosstalk) which actually runs but will not
access the
serial port. I do run many others with Crossover and Wine. Parallels
handles the Winfax
for me, since I can't get Linux to see my USB modem.
